Qualcomm, Baidu Jointly Launch IZat Integrated Hardware Location Platform in China

Qualcomm Technologies announced to work closely with Baidu on IZat Integrated Hardware Location Platform, a system aiming to provide more accurate and power-efficient location information for LBS (Location-based Services) in both outdoor and indoor environments, according to the company's press release on August 5. The platform makes use of location information from various signal sources, including GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and sensors, as well as terrestrial positioning techniques using cellular network and Wi-Fi positioning from Baidu. Qualcomm and Baidu expect to commercialize the technology on smartphones to be released in 3Q 2016.
